ネバラスカ・オバマのAP通信社によると、バークシャー・ハザウェイ社の関連一会社が、おおよそ270万株のConstellation Energy Group Inc. を売却した。それは、先月買収の企てを拒絶した際に受け取ったものである。
バークシャー・ハザウェイ社のアイオワに拠点を置く公益企業MidAmerican Energy Holdings社は木曜、証取委員会に提出した売買報告書でこの取引を明らかにした。
1/6から1/22日まで行われた売却の後、MidAmerican社は、Constellation社の株式を172万株を有するに至った。
MidAmerican社は、Electricite de France SAと一緒に行ったConstellation社の47億ドルの買収にて、バルチモアに根拠地を持つConstellation社が買収を拒絶した際、株式とともに5億9300万ドルを受け取った。

Berkshire Hathaway unit sells 2.7M shares of Constellation stock it got in failed takeover
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- A unit of Warren Buffett's company has sold 2.7 million of the roughly 20 million shares of Constellation Energy Group Inc. it received when Constellation rejected a takeover bid last month.
Berkshire Hathaway Inc.'s Iowa-based utility company, MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co., revealed the stock sales in documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission Thursday.
After the sales, which took place between Jan. 6 and Jan. 22, MidAmerican had 17.2 million shares of Constellation stock.
MidAmerican received the stock and $593 million cash after Baltimore-based Constellation rejected MidAmerican's $4.7 billion takeover bid in favor of a deal with Electricite de France SA.
Berkshire is based in Omaha, Neb.

オマハネバラスカのAP通信社によると、億万長者の投資家ウォーレン・バフェット氏は、「合衆国は経済的な奇襲と戦っている」と語ったとのこと。
土曜日に放送されたDateline NBCのインタビューで、バークシャーハザウェイのCEP兼議長は、「国内の経済事情はWWⅡや大不況のときよりかは悪くはないが、未だ厳しいものがある」と語った。
バフェット氏は、「アメリカの人々は恐怖の輪っかに入り込んでいる」と語る。
「恐怖が消費を抑え、それが投資を抑え、更なる恐怖にさらされることになる。われわれはそれら悪循環を打ち壊さないといけない。それには時間がかかる」
バフェット氏のインタビューは、大統領に選ばれたオバマ氏と彼が直面しているアメリカ経済の建て直しという難しい仕事についてに集中した。

Buffett says in NBC interview that US is in 'economic Pearl Harbor'
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- Billionaire investor Warren Buffett says the U.S. is engaged in an "economic Pearl Harbor."
In an interview that aired Sunday on "Dateline NBC," the chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. said the nation's economic situation is not as bad at World War II or the Great Depression, but it's still pretty severe.
Buffett said Americans are in a cycle of fear, "which leads to people not wanting to spend and not wanting to make investments, and that leads to more fear. We'll break out of it. It takes time."
Buffett's interview centered on President-elect Barack Obama and the tough task he faces in fixing the U.S. economy.
"You couldn't have anybody better in charge," the Omaha resident said of Obama, who'll be sworn into office on Tuesday.
As one of Obama's economic advisers, Buffett said the president-elect listens to what his advisers say, but ultimately comes up with better ideas.
He predicted that Obama will be able to convey the severity of the economic situation to the American people and explain their part in alleviating it.
As to how long the crisis would continue, Buffett said he didn't know.
"It's never paid to bet against America," he said. "We come through things, but its not always a smooth ride."
Omaha-based Berkshire owns a diverse mix of more than 60 companies, including insurance, furniture, carpet, jewelry, restaurants and utility businesses. And it has major investments in such companies as Wells Fargo & Co. and Coca-Cola Co.
